Job Description

INTECH Process Automation is seeking a skilled Control Valve Technician to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team. The Technician will perform routine maintenance, inspection, calibration, troubleshooting, and testing of control and shutdown valves and their associated pneumatic and electronic accessories. The role ensures reliable valve operation, accurate testing, proper documentation, and safe reinstatement following maintenance.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform PM/CM, inspection, testing, and maintenance of control valves, SDVs, actuators, and associated accessories.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot digital positioners, I/P converters, boosters, solenoid valves, limit switches, regulators, and pneumatic components.
  • Perform valve stroke tests, Partial Stroke Tests (PST), functional tests, response checks, and pneumatic leak checks.
  • Conduct calibration and adjustment of valve positioners, switches, I/P converters, and related devices.
  • Inspect valve air supply, tubing, fittings, regulators, manifolds, and pneumatic connections for leaks or deterioration.
  • Replace approved valve/accessory components and support valve overhaul, repair, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Perform loop and signal checks between valve accessories and DCS/SIS/PLC systems under approved procedures.
  • Troubleshoot valve/accessory faults, identify defects, and escalate complex or recurring failures to the Control Valve Specialist/Engineer.
  • Verify valve operation, fail-safe action, travel, feedback, and functional performance before reinstatement.
  • Record as-found/as-left conditions, test results, calibration data, replaced parts, defects, and maintenance activities in CMMS.
  • Maintain control valve test equipment, calibration standards, tools, and critical spares in serviceable condition.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Instrumentation, Mechanical, ICSS, and OEM/vendor personnel as required.
  • Support safe isolation, reinstatement, and return to service of valves in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Comply with PTW, LOTO, HSE, process safety, hazardous-area, and site requirements.

Requirements

To Be Successful in This Role, You Must Have:

  • Technical Diploma/ITI in Instrumentation, Electronics, Automation, Electrical, IT, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant oil & gas/industrial experience, including at least 3 years as a Control Valve Technician.
  • Hands-on experience with control valves, SDVs, actuators, positioners, I/P converters, boosters, and solenoid valves.
  • Competent in valve stroke testing, PST, functional testing, response checks, and pneumatic leak testing.
  • Experience with limit switches, regulators, manifolds, tubing, and instrument air systems.
  • Ability to perform calibration, adjustment, troubleshooting, and replacement of valve accessories.
  • Basic understanding of DCS/SIS/PLC interfaces, valve feedback, and control signals.
  • Experience with valve installation, overhaul, commissioning, and safe reinstatement.
  • Ability to complete calibration certificates, test records, maintenance reports, and CMMS work orders.
  • Good understanding of PTW, LOTO, hazardous-area practices, and process safety requirements.
  • Control valve/positioner OEM training or relevant instrumentation certification is desirable.
