Job Description

As a Control System Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and validation of next-generation powertrain control systems for advanced vehicle applications. You will guide system development throughout the product lifecycle by managing requirements, collaborating with suppliers, coordinating validation activities, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high-performing solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to expand your technical and project leadership skills while working across software, electrical, mechanical, and embedded systems disciplines in a dynamic engineering environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier and engineering activities to deliver powertrain control solutions that meet program, quality, cost, and timing objectives.
  • Evaluate and provide technical direction on powertrain control system architectures, requirements, designs, and validation strategies.
  • Drive issue resolution through systematic troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and defect management.
  • Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to develop, integrate, validate, and launch vehicle control systems.
  • Lead pilot builds and vehicle integration activities, providing technical guidance and ensuring successful system implementation.
  • Develop and execute FMEAs and validation plans to reduce risk and improve system quality, reliability, and performance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting embedded systems using microcontrollers and common peripherals, including GPIO, PWM, timers, ADC/DAC, UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle network architectures and automotive communication protocols, including SAE J1939-21 (CAN) and J1939-22 (CAN FD).
  • Experience with requirements management and traceability tools such as IBM DOORS Next Generation, Siemens Polarion ALM, PTC Codebeamer, or similar platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, including international travel.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field, and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with functional safety and cybersecurity standards, including ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434.
  • Knowledge of powertrain systems, vehicle controls, and electrical architectures.
  • Experience supporting system integration, vehicle testing, validation, and product launch activities.
  • Experience conducting Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and developing verification and validation test plans
