Job Description

Reporting to Control Room Supervisor – HROC

Job Purpose:

In this role, you will be responsible for operating cement plant within a designated region. You will collaborate effectively across departments & plant teams to achieve shared goals. You will collaborate closely with plant teams & train, coach them to run the plant equipment achieving the best KPI’s, troubleshoot & communicate issues, and report the tasks to be done on site. The role will be on a 24/7 shift work. Occasional travel to the plant sites operated & supported will be required.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Plant Operation Monitoring and Control

  • Monitor, Operate & control the entire cement production process from the central control room, including raw material handling, raw meal grinding, clinker production, and cement grinding.
  • Adjust setpoints and process parameters to maintain stable and efficient plant operation.
  • Use Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to operate and supervise plant equipment.
  • Operate the Expert systems to the maximum benefit of the operations
  • Respond promptly to alarms and process deviations to prevent downtime or quality issues

Process Optimization and Quality Control

  • Maintain key process parameters within defined limits to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Optimize energy consumption, fuel usage, and raw material efficiency.
  • Work closely with quality and laboratory teams to adjust operations based on test results and product requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and operational efficiency.

Record Keeping and Reporting

  • Record and maintain accurate operational logs, including process data, changes, and incidents.
  • Monitor process trends, alarms, and system performance, and report findings to supervisors.
  • Highlight & Report maintenance needs and coordinate with field teams to ensure plant reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety standards, and reporting requirements.

Continuous Learning and Adaptation

  • Participate in ongoing training programs to stay updated on new technologies and process improvements.
  • Adapt to changing plant conditions and optimize control strategies accordingly

Job Qualifications, Requirements & Experience:

Education

  • Engineering degree preferably chemical engineering
  • Minimum 8 years previous experience in cement plant operations.
  • Knowledge of control system principles, distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), human-machine interfaces (HMI), and process automation.
  • Basic understanding of maintenance requirements and equipment behavior.
  • Ability to monitor multiple process areas simultaneously and prioritize actions
  • Willingness to work in shift operations (24/7 plant environment)
  • Experience with Expert systems & sound understanding of the whole cement process and quality aspects.
  • High level of attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Training and coaching abilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, especially with field operators and quality teams.
  • Ability to communicate fluently and effectively with international stakeholders in English.
  • A proactive team player who thrives in a cooperative, high-energy environment.
