About the role

Title – Control Room Operator

Pay Rate – £13.31

Location – Ipswich

Shift Timings – Full Time, Variable Hours

This position will be based at an Operations Control Room in Ipswich, working one of several shift patterns (approx 56 hours per week):

Option 1

· 4 Days 4 Off and 4 Nights

· 12-hour shifts – 56 hours a week

Option 2

· 4 Days 2 Off and 4 Nights

· 12-hour shifts – 42 hours a week

Our structured shift patterns provide regular planned time away from work, offering a predictable rota and improved work-life balance compared with traditional working weeks.

As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and manage responses to incidents, emergencies, and alarm activations.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all operational and security-related matters during your shift.
  • Maintain regular communication with mobile response officers, site teams, and clients.
  • Record incidents, operational activity, and shift updates accurately within control room systems.
  • Provide timely updates and reports to clients regarding site activities and incident responses.
  • Monitor operations and ensure compliance with company procedures, policies, and industry standards.
  • Support the efficient running of the control room to maintain the highest levels of service delivery.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • Must have the Right to Work in the UK and ability to pass BS7858 vetting.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using computer-based systems.
  • Ability to accurately record information and maintain detailed records.
  • Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Desirable:

  • Valid SIA Licence CCTV
  • Previous experience within a control room, operations, customer service, contact centre, dispatch, monitoring or security environment.
  • Experience coordinating people, resources or incident responses.
  • Experience using security, monitoring, scheduling or workforce management software.
