The Control Room Operator is responsible for operating the controls of the transload elevator and maintaining a close working partnership with both production and office team members.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:45 AM - 4:30 PM
This is an on-site role located in Savannah, GA. Responsibilities include:
Operate controls of transload elevator
Work closely with the Yard Supervisor to ensure the production plan is communicated to the team in detail and executed without issue.
Serve as the liaison between office and production team representatives.
Ensure good communication with the office and leadership teams via updating network system and online SharePoint.
Prepare all paperwork needed for production crew each day.
Carefully observe transload machinery and report any irregularities to the Operations Manager
Maintain maximum efficiency in production flow. Coordinate with Yard Supervisor and Jockey Drivers to ensure a constant flow of product with minimal down time.
Report any delays in production to leadership.
Reports any safety or environmental issues to team leader and/or safety manager.
Observe regulations surrounding agricultural trade, as provided by onsite training.
Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards within control room.
Conduct daily checks of all industrial equipment.
Observe proper PPE (personal protective equipment) and railway safety practices.
Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
Maintain and advance the food safety and quality of POET’s products and processes to deliver a best-in-class culture of quality.

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy as it relates to data entry.
Knowledge of logistics, trucking industries and ability to handle opening / closing heavy “bulkhead” style doors on a shipping container.

This role has some physical requirements that our team members will need to be able to perform, such as:
Occasionally lifting weight up to sixty (60) pounds.
Occasionally climbing ladders.
Occasionally bending, twisting and turning while lifting weight of less than fifty (50) pounds.
Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
Walking up to two (2) or more miles per day.
Pushing brooms, shovels, etc.
Working at heights, in confined spaces and at temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees.
Standing for extended periods of time.
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Since we are all about team work, you may be asked to help other roles that have their own unique set of physical requirements.
Due to the physical and safety-sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process. During employment, you’ll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
