Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and Wednesday, Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The GBH Production Group oversees GBH television operations.  The Production Group is comprised of two divisions: The Studios which manages the TV studios, Fraser Recording Studio, the remote studio at Boston Public Library and EFP production; and the GBH OutPost, which provides post-production services, and tape floor operations. 

& RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Chyron Operator is responsible for two channels of graphics for on-air programming (live and/or pre-taped) using Chyron Prime.
  • Responsible for playing out, changing, and inserting messages as called for by the director.
  • Deep understanding of Chyron integration into shows and the creative building process of graphics within the provided software.
  • Checking each Chyron message for spelling, style, and grammatical errors, and alerting the show producers of any errors.
  • Take direction from both the show producer and TV director to achieve the desired graphic style.
  • Must be able to perform duties under pressure in a live production environment.
  • Some nights and weekends are necessary.
  • Job is in-person at 1 Guest Street, Brighton.

SKILL-SET

  • One – three years of experience in operating Chyron at a broadcast or similar facility.
  • Excellent communications skills on both headsets and in person.
  • Some knowledge of computer programing, motion graphic design and editing.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple, competing requests simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team is required. 
  • Attention to detail and strong executive function skills.
  • Experience with Windows including basic troubleshooting.
  • Superior, rapid response communication skills are vital.
  • Understanding of how a broadcast television facility works and interconnects.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
