About the role

The Control Monitoring & Insights Lead is responsible for establishing and operating Haleon’s continuous risk and control monitoring capability across D&T. The role delivers ongoing surveillance of key controls, evaluates real‑time indicators of control health, and provides insight‑driven reporting on emerging risks.

Through a combination of monitoring analytics, KRI measurement, and structured review processes, the role ensures that both operational and technology controls are performing as intended and that risk signals are detected early.

Working as a second‑line function under the Independent Assessment and Monitoring Director, the Lead designs monitoring frameworks, selects KRIs, builds automated monitoring routines, and oversees analysts performing control performance reviews. The role partners closely with Risk Oversight, Control Assurance & Advisory, Tooling teams, InfoSec Cyber Defense, and first‑line control owners to ensure monitoring results drive timely remediation and sustainable control improvements. By offering continuous visibility into risk posture and control effectiveness, the role strengthens resilience, reduces audit risk, and ensures compliance with Haleon Written Standards and regulatory expectations.

Role Responsibilities

  • Design and operate continuous control monitoring frameworks, including definition of monitoring methods, data sources, thresholds, and escalation mechanisms across high‑risk technology and operational domains.

  • Define, measure, and maintain Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Control Health Indicators (KCHIs) to provide early visibility of deteriorating control performance or emerging risks.

  • Oversee the execution of automated and manual monitoring routines, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of monitoring insights delivered to stakeholders and governance bodies.

  • Transform monitoring results into actionable insights, preparing dashboards, heatmaps, and trend analyses that highlight systemic weaknesses, emerging risks, and opportunities for remediation or control uplift.

  • Collaborate with Internal Audit, Risk Oversight, Control Assurance & Advisory, and Cyber Defense to align monitoring coverage, avoid duplication, and enhance overall risk posture through coordinated assurance.

  • Drive improvements in monitoring tooling and automation, partnering with the Risk & Compliance Tooling Lead to integrate advanced analytics, anomaly detection, and automation capabilities that enhance monitoring efficiency.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

  • 8–12+ years across analytics‑enabled risk management, continuous monitoring, cyber/IT operations, or assurance.

  • Hands on experience designing or operating continuous control monitoring frameworks, including automated and manual monitoring routines.

  • Experience in designing, measuring and analysing KRIs, KPIs, or other early warning indicators.

  • Strong background in IT General Controls (ITGC), application controls, cybersecurity controls, and technology operations.

  • Practical experience leveraging analytics tools, dashboards, log analysis platforms, or automation technologies to identify anomalies, control failures, or emerging risks.

  • Experience collaborating with Internal Audit, Risk Oversight, InfoSec, and other second line functions.

  • Familiarity with SOX, GxP, and technology governance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced training or postgraduate study in risk analytics, cybersecurity, internal audit, data science, or technology governance.

  • Experience implementing or enhancing automated monitoring capabilities, including scripting, dashboards, telemetry‑based monitoring, SIEM feeds, or compliance tooling.

  • Exposure to predictive analytics, thematic risk reviews, or behavioural‑based indicators.

  • These capabilities elevate monitoring from reactive detection to proactive insight generation.

  • Certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CISSP, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, or other relevant qualifications. Data and analytics certifications desirable.
