The Control Engineer III is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving automation and control solutions that ensure stable and efficient manufacturing operations. This role combines hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, process improvement, root cause analysis, and documentation management to enhance equipment reliability, process performance, and production quality. The position works closely with cross-functional teams to implement automation projects, control system modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
About Your Role
Diagnose and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, variable frequency drives, servo systems, machine vision systems, industrial networks, and automated equipment.
Develop, test, validate, and document control system modifications following plant standards and change management procedures.
Lead and support continuous improvement projects focused on reducing scrap, downtime, process variation, and operational errors.
Maintain updated backups of programs, machine parameters, recipes, and configurations to ensure equipment recoverability.
Implement interlocks, alarms, poka-yokes, and traceability systems to protect critical product and process characteristics.
Participate in root cause investigations, PFMEA activities, control plans, process validations, and corrective action implementation.
Update electrical schematics, I/O lists, sequence documentation, operating manuals, and support documentation following equipment modifications.
Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Process Engineering, suppliers, and system integrators to execute projects and resolve technical issues.
Provide technical guidance and support to Control Technicians during troubleshooting and improvement activities.
Support manufacturing operations outside regular business hours when required by production needs.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in automation, controls engineering, or specialized maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC and HMI systems, preferably using Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or Siemens platforms.
Practical knowledge of sensors, actuators, servo systems, drives, instrumentation, and industrial communication networks.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams.
Intermediate technical English proficiency for reviewing documentation and written communication
Experience with Cognex, Keyence, or similar machine vision systems.
Knowledge of industrial robotics, data acquisition systems, and manufacturing traceability solutions.
Experience within automotive manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with IATF 16949 requirements, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Change Management processes.
Experience managing projects with suppliers and automation integrators.
Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, A3, 5 Whys, or DMAIC.
