Job Description

Wood is recruiting for a Control & Automation Designer to join its Projects team focusing on delivering across FEED and Detail design scopes of work. Position is based in Muscat, Oman. This role will be developing C&A design drawings and documents and provide expertise in drawing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with discipline project engineers/designers and other discipline engineers in the delivery of project engineering/construction deliverables, quality control drawings and overall project support.
  • Follow/ensure Quality Management System Requirements are met in line with ISO 9001-2015 and API Q2 2nd edition requirements.
  • Develop designs in PDMS and (new) drawings in electronic format (AutoCAD).
  • Implement hand marked-up changes to drawings.
  • Maintain standard drawing templates.
  • Provides quality assurance reviews and detailed checking support.
  • Maintain and monitor drawing development progress.
  • Meet project commitments and deliver to schedule.
  • Identify & implement process improvement to reduce cycle time & cost.

Experience

  • Minimum ITI or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years in FEED/Engineering Experience and 6 years experience in the oil and gas industry with experience on major capital projects
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with 3D drawing systems (e.g. PDMS) and AutoCAD.
  • Technical knowledge of advanced 3D design applications and processes.
  • Efficiently uses Aveva software applications (i.e. PDMS design modules, forms/menus, REVIEW)
  • Knowledgeable of codes, standards and regulatory guidelines that apply to the design disciplines, specifically any API, CENELEC, IEC, IEC IP, IEEE, NEC, and NEMA standards.
  • Knowledgeable with designing industry related electrical and instrumentation deliverables (skids, equipment general arrangements, isometrics, plans, area classification drawings, single-lines, cable block diagrams, schematics, interconnect wiring diagrams)
  • Familiar with Electrical & Instrumentation Data Handling Software, such as INTools, PowerGen, and any Programmable Logic Control or Digital Control System Software.
  • Is proficient in the use of human factors engineering guidelines and HSE best practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently with little guidance or supervision is required.
  • Knowledgeable of the interface points between design disciplines.
  • Is able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills are highly desirable.
