Anglo American Steelmaking Coal

Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

Join us as a ContractsSuperintendent/Specialist where you’ll act as the key interface between site operations and corporate Supply Chain, with a strong focus on category management/contract management and supplier performance. This role is about ensuring contracts deliver real value at site.

This is a full-time permanent role based on site at our Dawson Mine in Moura and reports into our Supply Chain Manager based in Brisbane.

Key accountabilities also include:

  • Support central Supply Chain and Commercial functions with planning activities, strategy development, strategy execution and reporting aligned to site priorities
  • Monitor and optimise contracts to drive safety, performance and cost outcomes
  • Lead tender processes, including scope development, supplier engagement and bid evaluations
  • Lead contract performance and governance, including KPIs and compliance
  • Support contract variations, commercial decisions and supplier selection
  • Partner closely with site teams to align operational needs with full lifecycle Supply Chain delivery

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in category management and contract management (implementation, performance, governance)
  • Background in mining, heavy industry or asset-based environments
  • Experience supporting tenders, sourcing or procurement activities
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and influencing operational teams
  • Commercially minded, with a focus on value delivery through contracts
  • Relevant qualifications in field (Supply Chain Management, Logistics & Supply Chain, Finance, Business, etc.)
  • Hold current S1, 2, 3 & G2 Supervisor qualification.
  • Previous experience with SAP or a similar ERP will be desirable.
  • Focused on performance, safety and continuous improvement
