Contract Specialist, II

Remote - Colombia

About the Role

As Contract Specialist, II, you will be responsible for preparing and negotiating software license and service agreements in support of a global sales organization and ensuring compliance of legal terms and conditions by customers. This includes regularly working across internal corporate functions with sales personnel, technical and product personnel, and central corporate functions on contract matters and on drafting and negotiating contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and negotiating of software license agreements, professional servicesagreements, and contract addenda in region; routinely exercising discretion and independent judgment
  • Reviewing RFPs, Tenders, RFIs, and RFQs, offering appropriate alternatives to contract terms and conditions
  • Reviewing and resolving issues affecting company compliance and ensuring satisfaction of legal requirements, appropriately balancing Blackboard and customer objectives
  • Advising sales management of contractual rights and obligations and providing clarification of contract terms and conditions
  • Interpreting contract policies, operating practices, and performance standards within the Contracts team

Required Skills and Experience

  • Fluency in written and spoken English at CEF B2 level or above
  • 2-5 years of experience in contract management and negotiation or experience that relates to the drafting and negotiation of agreements
  • Understanding of the development, negotiation, and execution of contracts
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Desire to succeed in a customer service-oriented environment
  • Highly efficient and organized; ability to handle multiple tasks with ease and professionalism
  • Ability to be proactive, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines in a service-oriented and sales-driven environment
  • Ability to work quickly but be highly detail-oriented
  • Proven analytical and written and oral communication skills

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 3 years of experience that relates to the drafting and negotiation of agreements
  • SaaS experience
  • Salesforce.com experience
  • SharePoint experience
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Higher Ed experience
  • Familiarity with software and hardware corporate revenue recognition issues and legal concepts regarding software contracts and licensing including, but not limited to, limitations of liability, indemnification, and warranties
