As a Contracts Lead, you will provide subject matter expertise in contract law and contractual governance, manage contract review activities across supported businesses, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with Wood's policies and commercial frameworks. Reporting to the Contracts Manager, your primary focus will be supporting the business through the effective management, review, and negotiation of commercial and contractual agreements. You will play a key role in delivering Wood's three strategic pillars of Inspired Culture, Performance Excellence, and Profitable Growth by providing contractual leadership, managing risk, and supporting business growth.

As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with business leaders, project teams, and key stakeholders to ensure contractual compliance, governance, and commercial success while upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct.

In addition, you will:

  • Lead the drafting, review, negotiation, and administration of client contracts, NDAs, MSAs, joint venture agreements, and other commercial arrangements.
  • Provide strategic contractual guidance, risk management support, and negotiation expertise throughout tendering, project execution, and business development activities.
  • Advise stakeholders on contract terms, commercial obligations, financial instruments, and governance requirements to protect Wood's interests and support profitable growth.
  • Collaborate with legal, commercial, finance, supply chain, and operational teams to identify, mitigate, and manage contractual and commercial risks.
  • Support contract handovers, claims management, dispute resolution, and the successful delivery of contractual obligations across the project lifecycle.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship within the Contracts function.
  • Degree required: Law
  • Legally qualified
  • PQE: at least 7 years

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Experience and proven track record of contract review, drafting and negotiation in a service company environment.
  • In addition to undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience, the individual should have work experience in the industry which would allow understanding of and exposure to key contracting principles.
  • Experience in the negotiation and set up of JVs, MOUs, bidding agreements and consortium agreements.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team (subject to role)
  • Expert knowledge of contract terms, contract principles and drafting and compliance with contracting policies.
  • Working knowledge of the Company Finance and HR systems.
  • Awareness of all relevant corporate and project procedures.
  • Excellent understanding of Client contract structures, principles, and policies.
  • Contract experience should cover consulting, engineering and construction projects in at least one of the power, infrastructure, mining, environmental and/or oil and gas industries, EPC, EPCm, standard contract model forms (e.g., NEC, FIDIC, JCT and LOGIC or regional equivalents) preferably in both onshore and offshore environment.
  • Relevant Client Facing Contracting Experience: 4-8+ years
  • Supervisory Experience: 0-4 years (preferred & subject to role)
