Department Summary
UNT System Business Services and Procurement provides enterprise-wide leadership for purchasing, sourcing, and contracting operations across all institutions. The team is responsible for ensuring compliant, efficient procurement processes while advancing strategic sourcing, vendor management, and risk oversight. It also drives system-wide initiatives such as digital procurement platforms, third-party risk management, and policy modernization. The function is focused on improving operational efficiency, reducing risk, and delivering measurable financial and service value to the institution.
The Contracts Coordinator supports the administration, management, and monitoring of business and procurement contracts to ensure compliance with UNT System policies, state and federal laws, and best practices. This role facilitates the full contract lifecycle, including negotiation, approval routing, vendor coordination, and performance monitoring. The Coordinator contributes to process improvements and supports strategic goals for contracting functions across the institution. Work is performed under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of University, federal, and state contracting regulations and procedures.
• Ability to interpret, analyze, and evaluate complex contract terms.
• Skill in identifying problems and implementing effective solutions.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
• Proficiency in maintaining records using electronic contract management tools.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Discretion in handling confidential information.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
