Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Client & Head Contract Management


  • Review, negotiate, and administer head contracts with builders, developers, and clients

  • Identify contractual, commercial, and operational risks prior to project commencement

  • Negotiate contract terms, variations, extensions of time, and commercial outcomes

  • Work closely with Directors and Project Managers during tender and contract award stages

  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project deliverables

  • Manage client correspondence relating to contractual and commercial matters

  • Assist in dispute resolution and negotiation where required

Commercial Management


  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts, margins, and cost control

  • Prepare and manage progress claims, variations, delay claims, and payment schedules

  • Track project financial performance and identify commercial risks/opportunities

  • Support profitability through strong commercial oversight

Subcontractor & Supplier Agreements


  • Prepare, review, and administer subcontract agreements and supplier purchase orders

  • Coordinate procurement of subcontractors, plant, materials, and services

  • Assess subcontractor scopes, pricing, and compliance documentation

  • Manage subcontractor claims and payment processes

Project Support & Administration


  • Maintain project registers including RFIs, variations, notices, and correspondence

  • Support Project Managers with project delivery and contractual administration

  • Ensure all project documentation is accurate and maintained

  • Assist with programme tracking and reporting requirements

Compliance & Risk Management


  • Ensure projects comply with contractual, legal, and company requirements

  • Support WHS and environmental compliance documentation

  • Maintain strong record keeping and document control processes

Skills & Experience

Essential


  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in Contract Administration within construction, demolition, civil, or related industries

  • Strong experience negotiating contracts with builders and developers

  • Excellent understanding of construction contracts, commercial risk, and project delivery

  • Experience managing variations, claims, EOTs, and commercial negotiations

  • Strong financial and commercial acumen

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • High-level organisational and problem-solving ability

Desirable


  • Experience within demolition, remediation, asbestos, or civil construction

  • Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Law, or similar

  • Experience with project management and construction software systems

About Abyss Demolition

Abyss Demolition is based in Queensland with our head office in Brisbane and a North Queensland office in Garbutt, Townsville. We provide asbestos removal and demolition services throughout South East Queensland including Ipswich, Toowoomba, Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, the Gold Coast, North Queensland and inland areas such as Mt Isa. Abyss also provides asbestos removal and demolition services to Northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory. For large projects, we are able to provide services Australia wide. Our own fleet of vehicles and machinery enable us to mobilise to remote locations efficiently and allows us to keep the cost of mobilisation to a minimum.

We are licenced for A Class Asbestos Removal and Unrestricted Demolition Works. Our services include safe removal and disposal of friable asbestos and non-friable asbestos (bonded asbestos) products, such as removal of low density board, telstra asbestos pits, asbestos cement sheeting and demolition works including house demolition, demolition of commercial buildings, high rise demolition, internal strip outs, industrial demolition, service station demolition, bridge demolition and removal of underground storage tanks, bulk removal of asbestos contaminated soil, hydrocarbon contaminated soil and site remediation.

As a licenced, experienced and safety focused demolition and asbestos removal contractor, we focus on the whole lifecycle of a project from initial inspection, performing preliminary testing, providing a comprehensive quote, developing safety and environmental documentation, performing the asbestos removal and demolition works and disposing of all waste.
