Who Are We Looking For?

At Vestwell, our team makes all the difference. As we grow, we are seeking a Contractor, People Services to join our People Team. This role will support the administration of the company's HRI system and assist with key operational tasks such as payroll, benefits, and compliance.

What Will You Be Doing?

HRIS and Employee Support

• Maintain the accuracy and completeness of employee records within our HRIS, Rippling.
• Manage the People Ops inbox and handle tier one inquiries such as onboarding, VOE (Verification of Employment), benefits, and leave-related questions.
• Escalate complex issues as needed, ensuring they are directed to the appropriate person for resolution.
• Provide support for HRIS reporting and internal metrics

Payroll, Benefits & Compliance

• Support the People Services team in the accurate and timely administration of semi-monthly, hourly, and contractor payroll.
• Assist the People and Finance teams with state and federal filing requirements.
• Help create and maintain job descriptions, ensuring classification and compensation compliance.
• Support the People and Compliance teams with gathering necessary data and information for annual reporting, RFPs, and audits in a timely manner.
• Manage key benefit compliance tasks, including the maintenance of plan documents and the distribution of SPDs, SPCs, and other required legal notifications.
• Maintain Sparrow our leave management platform and add new employees upon leave requests. Manage all leave requests in accordance with company policy and regulations, including FMLA, maternity/paternity leave, bereavement, jury duty, paid/unpaid time off, and general leaves of absence.

Requirements

The Necessities

• Proficient with Google Drive tools, including Sheets, GMail, Docs, and Slides.
• 2+ years of experience in People Team or a service-related role.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize daily responsibilities.
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and professionally in accordance with departmental policies.
• Excellent organizational and follow-through skills to ensure the completion of assigned tasks.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and cross-functionally.

The Extras

• Experience working in a high-paced startup environment or SaaS environment.
• Prior experience using Rippling.
• Prior experience using Sparrow or other leave management platform.
• Experience supporting a hybrid team.

The expected base salary range for this position is $55K - $60K base. This position is eligible to participate in the Company Bonus Pool and is eligible to receive new hire equity in the Company. Please note that salary bands are based on NY and other similar metro areas and may differ based on where the role is ultimately hired.

Interview Process

Our interview process starts the same for every candidate with 1-2 introductory conversations to learn more about your background, interests, and what you're looking for, while also giving you the opportunity to learn more about Vestwell and the team. From there, the process varies by role but typically includes a skills or experience-based assessment, such as a coding interview, portfolio review, or deeper discussion of your relevant experience. Successful candidates then move on to a virtual or in-person interview panel. Before extending an offer, we complete a reference check with a current or former manager and a peer.
