Qualifications needed

• Current NZ Electrical Registration

• Current NZ Practicing Licence

• Current Site Safe

• Current Safe Working Practices Certificate

• Current First Aid Certificate

• Current Drivers Licence for a class 1 light motor vehicle

Knowledge, Skills & Ability

• Must have a good understanding of the electrical regulations, current codes of practice (ASNZS 3000) and be able to work to these.

• Knowledge and understanding of the construction environment.

• Be enthusiastic and pro-active.

• Flexibility with working hours.

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.

• Work calmly and effectively under pressure.

Physical Requirements

• Have normal colour vision, as you will need to identify different-coloured cables.

• Be reasonably fit, healthy, and strong, as the work involves climbing and lifting.

• Be comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights, as you may need to crawl through tight spaces and under building and above ceilings.

Responsibilities Include:

• Undertake day to day electrical services to design, assemble, install, test, commission, diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical networks, systems, circuits, equipment, components, appliances, and facilities for industrial, commercial, and domestic purposes.

• Examining plans, wiring diagrams and specifications to determine sequences and methods of operation.

• Measuring and laying out installation reference points.

• Selecting, cutting, and connecting wire and cable to terminals and connectors.

• Using electrical and electronic test instruments to trace and diagnose faults.

• Repairing or replacing faulty wiring and defective parts.

• Positioning and installing electrical switchboards.

• Connecting electrical systems to power supply.

• Carry out testing to AS/NZS 3000.

• Manage up-keep and condition of all equipment and plant under your control.

• Company vehicles are to be kept clean, tidy, and safe condition, any loss or damage to company owned items must be report to your manager.

• Direction of staff including apprentices, trade assistants or sub-contractors when required.

• Accurate and timely completion of paperwork including timesheets, job sheets, job completion documentation, stock adjustments, and health and safety documentation.

In addition to these tasks the employee shall undertake any other work required by the employer, where such work is determined to be part of the employer’s business and provided that the employer assessed the employee as having the skills required to undertake such work.
