We’re looking for a Contracting Division Manager to lead our Contracting Projects and Rail teams in Dunedin. This opportunity has come about due to an internal promotion, which says a bit about how we grow people here. In this role, you’ll take the lead across a varied portfolio including regional and maintenance projects, excavation, pavement construction, safety improvements, utilities, surfacing and rail.

This is a senior leadership role with real scope. You’ll be trusted to lead people, shape performance, build strong client relationships and help drive good work across the business. If you like working side by side with capable people, setting clear standards and backing teams to deliver, this could be your next move.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

  • Lead the overall performance of the Contracting Projects and Rail teams, delivering on business plans, budgets and KPIs.
  • Build and maintain a strong safety, environmental and quality culture, making sure people are trained and equipped to do the job well.
  • Oversee pricing, tendering and securing forward work to meet or exceed department targets.
  • Build honest, collaborative relationships with clients and key stakeholders, while ensuring expectations are met.
  • Manage the effective deployment of people and resources, and ensure reporting and claims are accurate and delivered on time.

Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We’re looking for someone with

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering, or significant relevant industry experience.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in a contracting environment, including experience working with KiwiRail.
  • Strong leadership capability, with the ability to build high-performing teams and a strong safety and quality culture.
  • Proven experience pricing, tendering and winning work, with a solid understanding of government and local government procurement processes.
  • Strong commercial, communication and relationship-building skills, along with a sound understanding of NZ health, safety and environmental requirements.
