Job Summary: As a Deaf Mentor you will help increase student knowledge and ability to advance both educationally and as a member of the Deaf Community. Deaf mentors will support language acquisition and development while exhibiting appreciation for and understanding of Deaf Culture. The Deaf Mentor will work in collaboration with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program to support students in Expanded Core Curriculum which focuses on the following areas: Audiology, Career Education, Communication, Family Education, Functioning Skills, Self-Advocacy, Social-Emotional Skills, and Technology.
This position requires that the applicant be Deaf or Hard of Hearing and fluent in ASL. This position supports students in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program in Kanawha County from Preschool to Adult. The Deaf Mentor must be flexible to work at school locations or provide virtual support.
