How You’ll Make an Impact

As a Contract Talent Acquisition Specialist, you'll play a critical role in identifying, engaging, and building relationships with exceptional engineering, environmental, planning, and technical professionals. You'll be a strategic talent scout—proactively finding both active and passive candidates, creating talent pipelines, and supporting the recruiting team in attracting specialized talent in a highly competitive market.

You'll partner closely with recruiters and hiring managers to understand talent needs, develop targeted sourcing strategies, and deliver qualified candidate leads that help drive hiring success. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys research, networking, market mapping, and connecting great people with career opportunities.

Variable Hour Employees: This contract position is a variable hour position and working minimum 20 hours per week. Variable hour employees mean scheduled hours worked may vary from week to week based on team needs. This type of employment offers flexibility, competitive pay as well as Paid Sick Leave.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute innovative sourcing strategies to identify engineering, environmental, planning, and other technical professionals across a variety of disciplines and experience levels.
  • Proactively source active and passive candidates using LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search techniques, professional associations, niche job boards, referral networks, social media, AI tools, and other talent platforms.
  • Build and maintain robust talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs, focusing on hard-to-find technical and professional talent.
  • Conduct initial candidate outreach and engagement efforts, generating interest and establishing relationships with prospective candidates.
  • Partner with recruiters and hiring managers to understand role requirements, target talent profiles, competitive market dynamics, and sourcing priorities.
  • Perform talent mapping and market research to identify key employers, competitor organizations, talent pools, and emerging workforce trends.
  • Maintain candidate records, sourcing activity, and pipeline data within the applicant tracking system (ATS) to support reporting and recruiting effectiveness.
  • Support employer branding efforts through targeted outreach campaigns, networking initiatives, social media engagement, and talent community-building efforts.
  • Track sourcing metrics and provide insights regarding pipeline activity, candidate engagement, and market availability of talent.
  • Continuously explore and recommend new sourcing tools, techniques, and best practices to improve candidate identification and engagement.
  • May work on special projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of sourcing and recruiting experience, including demonstrated success identifying and engaging engineering, environmental, planning, scientific, or other technical professionals.
  • Demonstrated success identifying and engaging passive candidates for technical, engineering, scientific, or professional roles.
  • Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search techniques, and other advanced sourcing tools.
  • Strong research skills with the ability to uncover talent across multiple channels and networks.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience sourcing engineering, environmental consulting, planning, construction, or technical professional services talent.
  • Strong understanding of labor market trends and competitive talent landscapes.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to craft personalized outreach messages that generate candidate engagement.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple sourcing projects simultaneously.
  • Curious, resourceful, and proactive mindset with a passion for identifying and connecting great talent with career opportunities.
  • Experience supporting recruiting teams in high-growth or fast-paced environments.

Compensation: $38-52/hourly*

*Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.

  • This job operates in a remote environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
