Job Description

About the role
In this role, you will support the delivery of the City’s waste services, including kerbside waste, recycling, green waste, hard waste, mattress collections and medical waste disposal. You will work closely with residents, contractors and stakeholders to provide high-quality customer service, respond to enquiries, resolve issues and complaints, and help ensure services are delivered efficiently and effectively across the community.

Work type: Permanent Full-time
Classification: Band 5 $83,436 pa plus super

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver a range of day-to-day contract support activities accurately and effectively within agreed timelines.
  • Provide business support as required to the Waste Services Department, including responding to queries regarding service arrangements, costings and escalated requests and complaints.
  • Deliver accurate and timely collection, creation and maintenance of service records, data and reporting.
  • Ensure the consistent and efficient application of established policies, procedures and systems within areas of responsibility.
  • Support the management of consumable stocks under contracts including stickers, collateral, bin parts and mobile garbage bins.
  • Provide support with the bin inspection and audit program including issuing notices to residents and maintaining related records.
  • Develop positive relationships with other staff, customers and effectively collaborate with various subject matter experts across the City.
  • Identify, implement and maintain system improvements to ensure workflow efficiencies and strong communication between customers, contractors and Council officers.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer requests, complaints and resolutions to support service reviews, reporting and contract management activities.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have relevant qualification in administration, customer service or similar field(s) and/or relevant experience in the field in a comparable organisation, along with the following:

  • Demonstrated skills in customer service and contract support.
  • Proficient computer literacy and experience with Customer Relationship Management tools used in a fast-paced setting.
  • People skills to support, influence, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders.
  • Well-developed communication- written and verbal skills.
  • Some stakeholder management skills or ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve task outcomes.
  • Ability to identify and manage unreasonable customer behaviour.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s licence.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
