Job Description

What to know

We're looking for a Senior Analyst to support marketing and fundraising clients by helping us build out reporting frameworks, deliver data-driven insights, and keep pace with the analytical needs of both internal and client teams. Throughout this project, you will:

  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports that track program performance and supporter behavior
  • Reconcile data across platforms to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Respond quickly and thoroughly to ad hoc analytical requests from internal and client teams

The company

Blue State is a purpose-driven agency. We partner with leading causes, brands, and campaigns and create real change. From Google and UNICEF to Amnesty International and Oxfam, we transform how brands and causes raise money, influence policy, build platforms, and grow communities of supporters. Led by the most creative and analytical minds from the political, nonprofit, and brand worlds, Blue State is an independent agency and has 150+ employees in the US and London.

The team

The Analytics team is the backbone of our agency—supporting efforts that span web development, email, social media, design, and paid media. So, if you geek out over data, want to develop groundbreaking digital campaigns that will inspire and affect change, and work with people who are talented at and passionate about what they do, then let’s talk!

Some things we’re looking for

  • You have 4+ years of experience in digital analytics, ideally within a nonprofit, advocacy, or agency environment, with demonstrated knowledge of fundraising programs and online revenue strategy.
  • You're experienced in audience segmentation and reporting for email and SMS programs, including how list composition, engagement tiers, and send cadence affect performance metrics.
  • You have intermediate to advanced SQL skills and experience working with data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Google Data Studio, or similar) to build clear, decision-ready dashboards and reports.
  • You have experience with paid media reporting across channels (search, social, display) and can synthesize performance data into actionable recommendations. Prior experience working with media teams or agency partners is a plus.
  • You're comfortable reconciling data across multiple platforms and sources. You know how to spot discrepancies and trend shifts, trace them back to their source, and communicate clearly about what the numbers do and don't say.
  • You can deliver on a fast-moving queue of ad hoc requests without losing sight of longer-term reporting priorities.
  • You can take a step back to see the bigger implications of your analysis and translate those insights for both technical teammates and non-technical clients.
  • You're a thoughtful, organized teammate who isn't afraid to adapt to new situations, solve problems on the fly, and communicate proactively with those around you.

We approach in-office working with a hybrid model. On-site presence is welcome for US staff who are within commuting distance of the NY or DC office. Managers retain discretion to require in-person attendance for folks on their discipline or client teams as necessary, including for those whose roles require them to be in person.

The salary range for this position is $65-$85 per hour; compensation will be commensurate with experience.

At Blue State, diversity is a necessity, not a nice-to-have. We encourage those from underrepresented communities — women, people of color, LGBTQIA+, immigrants, those with disabilities and people at all the intersections in between — to apply. Even if you don’t think your current skill set checks every box, but this role seems to align with your strengths, we want to hear from you.

Blue State is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible application and interview process. If you would like to request a reasonable accommodation for a disability, including the use of AI tools throughout the hiring process, please contact us at recruiting@bluestate.co with the subject line: Accommodation Request to get started.

About Blue State

We believe there’s no force more powerful than people taking collective action on the things they care about. When an organization wants to mobilize people around a common purpose, they come to us.

We don’t pretend to have all the answers, but we know where to find them: in people. We listen, learn, and uncover new insights that often surprise us and our clients — and move us toward better results.

Blue State got its start on the campaign trail, pioneering the use of digital to open up the democratic process. Our new approach caught on, and we set out to do more good: raising millions more for nonprofits, shaping legislation and public opinion, and connecting consumers with brands. While our approach is continually evolving, our ethos has never changed:

Make good trouble.

When the status quo stands in the way of progress, we challenge it.

Be curious.

We ask the tough questions and let the data lead to answers.

Put people first.

We let the user drive the program, not the other way around.

Drive real change.

We obsess over outcomes and actions.

If you need it, build it.

We make stuff that empowers people to act on the things they care about.

Walk the walk.

Progress starts with us: our diversity, inclusion, and commitment to values over profits.
