Contract Operations Manager M/F Contract Type PERMANENT Job Location Africa, South Africa, JOHANNESBURG Working Hours Full time Mission Description The Contracts Operations Manager (Dedicated Contract) is responsible for the end-to-end operational, commercial, and contractual management of a dedicated customer contract within AGL. The role serves as the single point of accountability for ensuring contract performance, customer satisfaction, operational excellence, profitability, compliance, and continuous improvement.

The incumbent will lead all resources dedicated to the contract, including transport operations, fleet management, subcontractors, warehousing (where applicable), customer service, and support functions, ensuring all contractual obligations and service level agreements (SLAs) are achieved. The role requires strong customer engagement and strategic leadership to drive operational efficiency while supporting the customer's business objectives.

Job Function:

Contract Management

• Take overall responsibility for the successful management and execution of a dedicated customer contract.
• Act as the primary operational interface between AGL and the customer.
• Ensure all contractual obligations, KPIs, and service commitments are consistently achieved.
• Develop and implement contract-specific operational strategies aligned with customer requirements.

Operations Management

• Oversee day-to-day transport and logistics operations relating to contracted services.
• Ensure optimal fleet utilization, route planning, driver management, and asset productivity.
• Monitor operational performance against agreed KPIs and customer expectations.

Customer Relationship Management

• Build and maintain a strategic partnership with the customer.
• Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational review meetings.
• Address customer concerns, escalations, and service failures promptly and effectively.

Financial & Performance Management

• Take accountability for department P&L performance
• Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, performance and management reports

Employee Management & Leadership

• Lead, motivate and develop high-performance staff across all operational functions
• Promote staff engagement, communication and morale

Reporting & Governance

• Prepare and present departmental reports
• Report on KPI's, financial, safety and operational performance
• Communicate meeting outcomes and action plans to the team

Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE)

• Promote a strong safety culture across all contract operations.
• Ensure compliance with AGL QHSE standards and customer safety requirements.

Manage and supervise the operational activities

• Oversee daily depot operations, load planning, route optimisation and scheduling
• Ensure planning vs actual performance is monitored and corrected
• Lead and manage all departmental operations and service planning activities

• Matric
• At least 5 years' experience in transport management
• At least 2 years' experience as a manager
• Knowledge of transport methods, costs and benefits
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Complex problem-solving skills
• Good attention to detail.

• Excellent communicator
