VIC - BendigoThe Contracts Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of contract development, negotiation, and management within the Coliban Water contract and capital projects as required and will be based in Bendigo. This role is critical in ensuring that all contractual obligations are met while minimising risk and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the water industry and
a proven track record in contract management.

We’re seeking a driven and experienced Contracts Manager to join our Bendigo-based team, supporting the Coliban Water contract and key capital projects. About the role


In this role, you will lead the development, negotiation, and management of contracts, ensuring all obligations are met while minimising risk and maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with key stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes across the Coliban Water contract and broader capital works.

We’re looking for someone with strong contract management experience, ideally within the water or utilities sector, who can bring commercial insight, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to risk and performance.

Nature of position: Fixed Term Role

Location: Bendigo , Vic

Reporting Line: General Manager Water & PMO

Key responsibilities

  • Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate various types of contracts, including service agreements, procurement contracts, vendor agreements, and project-specific contracts.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with contracts, ensuring compliance with Australian water industry regulations, standards, and legal frameworks.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams (legal, finance, procurement, and operations) and external stakeholders (clients, suppliers, subcontractors) to ensure contract terms align with business objectives.
  • Contract Execution & Monitoring: Oversee the implementation of contractual obligations, ensuring all parties fulfill their commitments. Manage contract amendments, variations, and renewals as required.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure all contracts adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Monitor changes in laws or regulations that may impact contract terms
  • Reporting & Analysis: Provide regular reports on contract performance, risks, and opportunities. Conduct financial analysis related to contractual agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness and budget alignment.
  • Dispute Resolution: Address contract-related disputes and conflicts, working to resolve issues in a timely and amicable manner.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously improve contract management processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Experience required

  • Utilities and/or Water Sector Knowledge: Experience in managing contracts specifically in utilities infrastructure projects.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify potential risks in contracts and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of financial management, budgeting, and cost control within the scope of contract terms.
  • Communication and Leadership Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, along with leadership experience in managing teams or cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in managing stakeholders and/or clients is essential.
