Job Description

The Forklift & Warehousing Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe setup and operation of warehousing forklifts, automated palletization, de-palletization, and pallet wrapping equipment. The operator ensures all equipment is operating safely, correctly, timely and efficiently. The operator maintains record of inventory movements through hand-held RF scanning hardware/software units. Operators support production with timely delivery of required packaging materials, transport and storage of finished packaged goods and components in our warehouse, maintain inventory control, and accurately pick goods for distribution orders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operates task related equipment.
  • Plans / prioritizes daily activities to deliver tasking in accordance specific deadlines and production schedule.
  • Assures proper handling and movement of packaging products physically and in our tracking RF inventory tracking system to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Works in cooperation with production, maintenance, laboratory, & cellars personnel to find and resolve issues / support departmental requests.
  • Ensures that product quality parameters are met at all times in the movement and handling of finished goods and components.
  • Communicates with the operations management about constraints and assists in organizing task related workflow.
  • Uses inventory principle (FEFO: First Expired First Out) for proper material & Finished goods selection / rotation.
  • Assures compliance with all Health and Safety, departmental, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Applies knowledge and skills to resolve quality and inventory issues.
  • Participates in inventory physical counts.
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned.

Working Conditions & Environment

  • This position is located in a beverage/food manufacturing plant just outside of the town of Oliver, in British Columbia, Canada.
  • Requires flexibility with schedule, including break times and working extended hours when needed.
  • Is Exposed to moving machinery, such as forklifts and palletization / de-palletization / pallet wrapping equipment.
  • Requires adhering to company dress code, wearing Hi-Visibility jackets or sashes, safety eyewear, company provided hairnet/beard net as appropriate, and CSA approved foot ware.
  • Can be physically demanding, repetitive lifting up to 55 lbs (25 KG).
  • Can be noisy: utilizes hearing protection as necessary.
