Brief Role Description

The Contract EV Quality Engineer/Data Analyst reports to Sr. Manager Quality Engineering and is responsible for supporting the Sr. OEM Quality Lead as directed. Work duties include data analysis of large data sets using python or other tools. This role requires strong communication skills and experience in the EVSE business, including electric vehicles and charging. The role may require some travel up to10+ percent as needed.

The Contract EV Quality Engineer will be responsible for supporting and reporting on EV OEM data to help identify interoperability and quality issues. The candidate will need a good working knowledge of the EVSE charging process and will help analyze and prioritize technical problems internally. This person will perform analysis for several OEMs and will work both internally and externally, performing deeper charging analysis. This person will support OEMs in root cause analysis for customers' issues while charging at a higher level. In this role, the candidate will be responsible and accountable for developing OEM reporting over the year for internal and external stakeholders. This will include data quality, charging success, and charging errors across the overall network. This will allow Electrify America to understand how each OEM performs on the network and to build stronger business relationships with data to support decision–making.

The candidate will work cross-functionally with various teams at Electrify America to address EVSE-related concerns and issues, and create Jira tickets that can be tracked by supplier quality engineers in the LOP and by our charging vendors.

Possible Tasks within this Role

Role Responsibilities: List essential functions in order of importance; include percentage of time spent performing each function (total should equal 100%)

Main responsibilities - 80% of time

  • Script and analyze large data sets to output KPIs set between business, engineering, and quality
  • Track top issues that impact OEM KPIs and provide presentations for internal and external customers monthly
  • Think outside the box to deep dive data to root cause, quantify, and visualize how to improve charge success for OEMs and the network
  • Work cross functionally between business, data insights, quality, product, etc. to provide clear next steps and actions
  • Attend bi-weekly or monthly OEM meetings to support the business relationship

Additional responsibilities- Other 20% of time

  • Investigate and support high priority OEM cases from the NOC or call center
  • Improve documentation on the data available to internal stakeholders
  • Support in documenting issues through Intellaquest

Qualification requirements

Years of Relevant Experience: Minimum years of relevant experience needed to perform the job

5+ years of post-undergrad experience, including professional focus on data analysis.

Education:

BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. ·

Skills: General skills needed to perform the job

  • Conceptually skilled – ability to use logic, creative, and strategic thinking
  • Exceptional Communication skills – interpersonal, presentation and written
  • Computer savvy – skilled in the use of analytical tools for analysis like Python scripting, SQL, Alteryx, and Excel
  • Problem solving – looking at an issue from all sides and angles, FMEA, Fishbone, 5 whys, or similar
  • Working knowledge of test and validation planning

Desired Skills

  • Experience in electric vehicle validation, vehicle measurement, CAN and vehicle communication
  • Experience using Jira, Salesforce, Confluence and other collaboration tools.
  • Vehicle charging experience · PLC communication experience · OCPP, Ethernet communication experience, JSON and SOAP · Knowledge of ISO 15118 or DIN 70121 standards · Experience with Alteryx and or Python is a plus
