Job Description

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

As a Contract Engineering Specialist based in our Noventa di Piave site, you'll play a key role in integrating complex components and products, managing requirements, and helping drive quality across the full product lifecycle.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who is building their systems engineering expertise and wants to work across disciplines, develop customer-facing skills, and grow toward greater technical autonomy.

What You'll Do

You'll work across the full product integration lifecycle, ensuring components and systems come together efficiently, reliably, and to specification. Specifically, you will:

  • Provides technical expertise and develops technical solutions (configuration, performance estimation, economics, etc.) as part of the pre-ITO (requisition) process while interfacing with the commercial team. Possesses a deep understanding of relevant markets and customer economic value that aid winning bid strategies. To include 'ITO': Technical analysis of client need: definition and optimization of the products; scope (description); schedule; industrial scheme; cost, considering contract and internal policies and procedures. Calculation of plant, system and equipment performance and efficiency. Documentation of technical specifications & costing elements for further contract execution phases. This also includes OTR part where engineers work on customizing the products and implementing it for specific customer needs
  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.

Who We're Looking For

You're an engineer with a solid grounding in systems or technical engineering, a methodical approach to problem-solving, and the interpersonal skills to work effectively across teams and with customers.

Required

  • A formal education in Engineering, Technology, or a related discipline is valued — a Bachelor's degree or equivalent background is a good foundation, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.
  • Some relevant experience in a systems engineering or technical engineering environment.
  • Good understanding of how engineering work integrates across teams and contributes to the broader product or system.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred

  • Experience producing structured technical documentation such as design specifications, test plans, or requirement flow-down documents.
  • Familiarity with product configuration management or configuration control processes.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing engineering role.
