Job Description

The HPC Jobs Service supports local people into exciting, long-term careers across our Project.

Contract Engineering Lead

Ready to lead the technical delivery of equipment that plays a vital role in the future of nuclear energy in the UK? Do you enjoy combining engineering leadership, supplier engagement, and project delivery to make a lasting impact? At EDF, Success is Personal. This is your opportunity to shape a major infrastructure project while developing your career in a way that works for you.

The Opportunity

As Contract Engineering Lead (Diesels), you'll take ownership of the technical management of the Sizewell C Emergency Diesel Generator contract. Working at the heart of a multi-disciplinary team, you'll lead engineering activities, guide technical specialists, and help deliver one of the UK's most significant nuclear new build programmes.

EDF EPR Engineering UK delivers the design for nuclear island buildings, systems, and equipment for Hinkley Point C and similar projects. Working as part of an integrated team, EPR Engineering supports construction and commissioning while preparing design-replication feasibility and related engineering activities.

You’ll join us on a salary starting of £58,000 per annum, with the potential for an annual bonus. This is a hybrid role based in our #Aztec West office in #Bristol, with an expectation of 3 to 4 days per week on site and the remaining days working from home.

You'll play a key role in supporting our journey towards An Electric Britain, ensuring successful replication of proven Hinkley Point C solutions while applying valuable operational experience. From supplier collaboration and manufacturing oversight to design assurance and technical leadership, you'll help deliver safe, high-quality outcomes for a nationally important project.

Who You Are

We're looking for a Contract Engineering Lead with strong technical leadership skills, excellent stakeholder management capabilities, and experience working within complex, highly regulated environments. Are you experienced in...?

Holding a degree in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent qualification

Delivering at least five years' experience in engineering, project engineering, or project management roles

Working within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry

Leading technical discussions and influencing senior stakeholders across multiple organisations

Managing contractor design deliverables, engineering programmes, or qualification activities within complex projects

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

What You’ll Be Doing

Leading the technical management of the Sizewell C Emergency Diesel Generator contract from design through to manufacturing delivery

Coordinating and supporting a team of technical leads to achieve engineering, qualification, and project objectives

Managing supplier design and qualification activities, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and programme milestones

Supporting manufacturing activities through technical acceptance, surveillance, and resolution of non-conformances

Working closely with project, commercial, and engineering stakeholders to manage risks, opportunities, technical issues, and contract performance

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a starting salary of £58,000 per annum, potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.

At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That's why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that's unique to you. Here, Success is Personal – it's your journey, powered by us.
