The Financial Services Branch delivers timely guidance and expertise in financial planning, contracting, reporting, operations, performance planning, and administrative services, all while managing the ministry’s fiscal resources.
The Contract and Procurement Unit provides centralized contract and grant management advice and support to Ministry staff and stakeholders. We are dedicated to ensuring transparency, compliance, and effectiveness in procurement processes, making sure public funds are managed responsibly and effectively. Join our team in a key role that directly impacts the credibility of the Ministry and the Government of Alberta (GOA) through strategic decision-making and leadership.
Reporting to the Team Lead, Contracts and Grants, the Contract and Grant Specialist ensures the Ministry’s procurement and grant management processes are effective, transparent, and compliant with Government of Alberta policies and legislation.
You will provide expert advice and oversight across the full contract and grant lifecycle, supporting tender development, risk assessment, negotiations, and compliance monitoring. This role supports ministry staff in delivering programs that advance environmental protection and sustainable development for Albertans.

This competition is to fill two positions: one permanent and one temporary (12 months) based in Edmonton. The roles follow a Monday to Friday schedule, 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM (36.25 hours/week).
The positions are primarily office-based and involve regular interaction with stakeholders, senior leadership, and vendors. Responsibilities include managing multiple priorities, meeting tight deadlines, and addressing sensitive or complex issues. Occasional travel may be required.
