Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse & Materials Optimization

  • Space Maximization: Assist in designing and executing targeted warehouse improvement activities to optimize footprint, storage capacity, and material flow.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the materials management team to identify, scope, and execute high-impact improvement projects across inventory and warehouse spaces.

Visual Management & Shopfloor Support

  • Parts Identification: Apply clear parts identification systems across warehouse storage to enhance visual management and reduce search time.
  • Workstation Design: Collaborate directly with shopfloor employees to improve local work areas by developing custom tool shadow boards and point-of-use parts storage.

6S & Lean Sustainability

  • Culture Standards: Support the plant-wide deployment, auditing, and long-term sustainment of 6S methodologies (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety).
  • Continuous Coaching: Act as a hands-on resource for floor teams, helping them maintain lean standards and standard operating procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, or production environment.
  • Lean Methodologies: Practical knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, specifically 6S, visual management, and point-of-use storage systems.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with both office-based management teams and shop floor employees.
  • Problem Solving: A proactive mindset with a demonstrated ability to identify inefficiencies and implement hands-on solutions.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to use basic tools to build shadow boards and reorganize physical storage area.

Health and Safety

  • Understand applicable Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures in the workplace.
  • Report unsafe conditions to your supervisor/manager and/or a JHSC member immediately.
  • Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, property damage to your supervisor/manager and/or a JHSC member immediately.
  • You may be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, high visibility vests, etc.).

Working Conditions

Physical Environment:

  • Requires use of office equipment including phone/switchboard, postal machine and copier.
  • Will be required to converse with other individuals such as, vendors, shipping and purchasing team members.

Workplace Hazards:

  • Risk of repetitive motion injuries or musculoskeletal strain.
  • At times will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment when entering the production floor.
  • May be exposed to noise, dust and hot/cold temperatures when in the production area.

Team & Work Environment:

  • While the work is primarily independent, it will require cooperation with interdepartmental teams and external stakeholders.
  • Communication will be essential for managing vendor interactions, whether in person or over the phone

Effort Requirements

Physical Effort:

  • Move and lift objects of up to 15 pounds
  • Moderate amount of time sitting

Mental & Cognitive Effort:

  • Verbally converse with other individuals
  • Use of office equipment including telephone, personal computer, calculator, copy and fax machine.
  • Ability to audit, evaluate, and report concerns and recommendations.

Pace & Productivity Expectations:

  • Ability to react to fast pace demands
