Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Lead Engineer – CEMS & Plant Chemistry to join our engineering team and lead the technical execution of Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and key plant chemistry systems for power plant including dosing and sampling systems, water treatment, wastewater treatment, water/steam cycle chemistry, cooling water chemistry, and related laboratory activities projects.
This role is suited for a lead engineer with strong expertise in emission monitoring, plant chemistry, supplier package management, and project execution plant chemistry systems.
The engineer will contribute to project execution, supplier technical management, plant chemistry concept development, commissioning support, and continuous improvement of chemical systems for power plant applications.

The Lead Engineer – CEMS & Plant Chemistry is responsible for the engineering, execution, and delivery of CEMS and selected plant chemistry systems across the project lifecycle — from tender support and specification development through supplier management, commissioning support, and troubleshooting.

The role requires close collaboration with internal engineering teams, sourcing, project management, suppliers, and site teams to ensure high-quality technical solutions, compliance with customer requirements, and on-time project delivery. The scope includes support for dosing, sampling, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and water/steam cycle chemistry systems, with a strong emphasis on CEMS

  • Lead the engineering and technical execution of CEMS for power plant projects.
  • Develop system architecture, functional specifications, component specifications, and ordering documents for CEMS and related plant chemistry packages.
  • Support plant chemistry scope including dosing, sampling, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and water/steam cycle applications
  • Prepare and maintain core engineering documents such as P&IDs, calculation notes, interface documents, and technical dossiers
  • Evaluate supplier offers, review supplier documentation, resolve technical queries, and ensure alignment with customer and company standards.
  • Manage technical interfaces across suppliers, customers, project teams, and internal engineering functions.
  • Support tendering activities by reviewing specifications, identifying risks, and defining the technical approach.
  • Provide technical support during project execution, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting, including occasional site support.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, standardization, and development initiatives within the CEMS and plant chemistry scope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in CEMS, plant chemistry, or related power plant systems.
  • Strong experience in emission monitoring systems, including gas analyzers, instrumentation, and package engineering.
  • Good knowledge of plant chemistry systems, including dosing, sampling, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and water/steam cycle chemistry.
  • Experience developing technical specifications, reviewing supplier documentation, and supporting procurement and execution activities.
  • Experience in commissioning support and troubleshooting is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong technical ownership and sound engineering judgment.
  • Able to work independently and lead technical scope with limited supervision.
  • Clear communicator with strong collaboration skills across global and cross-functional teams.
  • Practical, solution-oriented, and focused on quality, delivery, and customer needs.
  • Comfortable working across both detailed engineering and field support activities.
