JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

MCC’s Continuing Education Division is seeking enthusiastic and experienced non-credit instructors to provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences for the community in plant-related art classes for Spring 2027 and beyond. Topics will include, and are not limited to: watercolors made from plants, natural dyes, paper made with botanical material, and sustainability. Instructors introduce students to art and botanicals in a safe, supportive, and interactive environment. Responsibilities include creating curriculum, leading activities from the curriculum, supervising participants, promoting student engagement, and creating a positive learning experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Teaching experience (all ages)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deliver engaging and practical course content
  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to helping others achieve personal growth and enrichment
  • Knowledge of utilizing plant-based materials in arts, such as in watercolors, as dyes, or in making paper

This position will have opportunities for teaching assignments throughout the year. MCC holds classes at multiple locations throughout the Metro area, including Fremont and Blair. Classes can be held at any time, although are most common on weekday afternoons, weekday evenings, and weekends.The specific statements shown in each section of this description are not intended to be all inclusive.
