Job Category: EducationCypress Hills Local Development Corporation has an opening for a part-time Content Specialist in the United Community Centers Elementary After School program.

The UCC Content Specialist at CYPRESS HILLS LOCAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION INC is responsible for designing and leading academic and enrichment activities that support literacy-based conflict resolution and STEM curricula. This role requires collaboration with the Program Director to ensure alignment with Common Core standards and the organization's program goals, while also contributing to staff development and community-building efforts.

This position is hourly for 8 -10 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

Principal Duties

  • Partner with the Program Director to design and lead academic assistance and enrichment activities in afterschool programs.
  • Support the planning and implementation of a literacy-based conflict resolution curriculum in all groups.
  • Train and coach staff in the implementation of STEM curricula and academic assistance activities.
  • Guide staff in effective lesson planning.
  • Collaborate with the Program director to offer on-site training related to site-specific needs.
  • Ensure alignment with the school learning goals and Common Core standards.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to meet all goals of the program and to meet the needs of staff and participants.
  • Attend all training and meetings, as requested.
  • Demonstrates commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
  • Other duties as requested.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred.
  • Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and teaching experience with elementary and/or middle school age children; teaching credentials preferred.
  • Availability for the required after-school hours for the school year. Commitment to working from a youth development perspective.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish/Bengali/Creole French) a plus.

Compensation

  • $40-$50 per hour based on educational and experience level.
  • Access to professional development provided by CHLDC and/or external providers.
  • All part-time employees are eligible to participate in the agency’s 403b Tax Deferred Retirement Investment Plan.
  • In addition, all part-time employees are eligible to participate in the agency’s Commuter Flexible Spending Plan.
  • CHLDC also follows the New York City Earned Sick Time Act
