Job Description

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Communications, the Content Manager works across the Marketing and Communications team to project manage and develop content for the MFA’s website, email, social media, print materials, advertising, on-site signage, and multimedia tours.

Essential Functions:

  • Write, edit, and fact check copy for external communications including web, email, social media, print materials, marketing campaigns, and on-site signage while adhering to editorial standards and brand voice.
  • Manage exhibition, gallery, collection, tickets, visit, and event pages on mfa.org, working with stakeholders across the Museum to develop and maintain production schedules, gather creative assets, edit copy in adherence to the MFA’s editorial style and brand guidelines, and proof webpages before publishing.
  • Create engaging and dynamic content for the MFA’s social media channels. Write copy and film and edit video content on iPhone using tools such as Instagram Edits and CapCut.
  • Respond to requests for editing, copy writing, and project management as needed.
  • Work with intellectual property department to generate art credits for all communications.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of communications experience, with a proven track record of strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent command of style, spelling, grammar, and punctuation, as well as strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with a variety of teams, and effectively handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Deep familiarity with social media platforms—in particular, Instagram and TikTok—and the ability to create engaging, platform-specific content.
  • Experience with HTML, UX and SEO best practices, and content management systems (e.g., Drupal); must be willing to work in multiple CMSs and adapt to new ones.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Basecamp and Jira.

Schedule and Wage:

Full-Time Salary, 35 Hours per Week

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000
