Job Description

Local Peoples is seeking a talented and dedicated Content Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Government clients in the ACT, playing a pivotal role in crafting clear, engaging, and user-centred content. As a Content Designer, you will be integral to shaping the communication strategies that enhance user experiences across a variety of government services.

Applicants will preferably be based in Canberra or Brisbane, however applications from other locations will be considered. Successful applicants located outside of Canberra may be required to travel to Canberra 1-2 times per quarter.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and edit content for system interfaces, websites, and other internal and external digital channels, ensuring clarity, consistency, and engagement.

  • Use user research, data insights, and service design principles to create content that is cohesive, compelling, and meets both user and organisational requirements.

  • Work closely with various departments and external partners to align content strategies and maintain consistency across all communication channels.

  • Collaborate with service designers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create user-friendly content that supports seamless user interactions.

  • Test and refine content through user research sessions, focusing on enhancing the user experience and ensuring content effectiveness.

  • Generate comprehensive content such as operational manuals, policy guides, and digital content, contributing to the enhancement of content guidelines and workflows.

  • Provide expert advice on content strategy, offering guidance to colleagues and fostering a culture of excellence in communication.

  • Develop content that empowers users to self-serve and complete tasks efficiently, reducing the need for support.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a content design or UX writing role with a proven track record in creating digital content that aligns with strategic goals.

  • Strong experience in conducting content research, testing content experiences, and integrating insights to improve user interaction.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams and external stakeholders in an agile, test-and-learn environment.

  • Competence in providing strategic content advice and maintaining a consistent tone of voice across user journeys.

  • Strong organisational abilities, with the capacity to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to craft clear, engaging narratives.

Residency and Clearance

  • Hold a current AGSVA Baseline clearance or be able to obtain one.

  • Australian Citizen

  • This role is open to Canberra based applicants.
