Job Description

Job Purpose and Impact

The Container Execution Support is responsible for securing container bookings with ocean carriers, ensuring timely shipment execution, and maintaining effective communication with internal stakeholders and external logistics partners. The role requires strong coordination skills, attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and a customer-focused mindset to support seamless end-to-end transportation activities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Shipment Planning & Execution

    • Manage daily shipment planning and tendering activities through systematic reporting and execution checks.
    • Secure and manage container bookings with ocean carriers based on shipment requirements and agreed timelines.
    • Monitor booking status and proactively follow up with carriers to ensure timely confirmation and equipment availability.
    • Ensure shipment milestones are met and escalate potential disruptions promptly.

    GTN System Management

    • Place bookings accurately in the GTN system.
    • Export and review shipment data for completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness.
    • Identify missing or inconsistent shipment information and take corrective actions.
    • Maintain accurate and timely updates in all transportation management systems.

    Stakeholder Coordination

    • Act as the primary liaison between Customer Operations teams, carriers, Business Units, and Control Tower (CTL) teams.
    • Ensure effective communication and information flow among all stakeholders.
    • Proactively engage internal and external partners to resolve operational issues impacting shipment execution.
    • Build strong working relationships with carriers and logistics service providers.

    Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

    • Support analysis of transportation metrics and supplier scorecards.
    • Monitor carrier service performance against established KPIs.
    • Identify operational gaps, service failures, and compliance issues.
    • Investigate root causes of non-compliance and recommend process improvements.
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance transportation efficiency and customer service.

    Reporting & Compliance

    • Maintain shipment documentation and reporting requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and transportation policies.
    • Provide regular updates on shipment status, booking performance, and operational risks.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Support special projects and transportation initiatives as assigned.
    • Perform other duties required to support transportation and logistics operations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in ocean freight operations, container shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, or carrier management.
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and transportation management systems.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

    Preferred

    • Experience working for an ocean carrier/liner company.
    • Experience in freight forwarding or NVOCC operations.
    • Knowledge of container shipping processes, booking management, and carrier operations.
    • Experience working in a regional or global logistics environment.
