Job Description

We are undergoing an exciting period of transformation and are looking for additional contact workers to support us in this process. You will be part of an enthusiastic and friendly team who are passionate about helping children and families when they first come into contact with children’s social care. The roles require excellent skills in communication and building effective relationships with key partners. You will be flexible and be able to at times work under pressure and competing timescales. You will receive good support and supervision. This will be an exciting time to join the service as we further strengthen our partnership approach to working and ensuring that children and families receive a timely, effective and seamless response when they ask for help.

The Service & Team:

Children's and Families Multi-Agency Referral Unit and Early Help Hub are Cornwall’s single point of contact for all children’s safeguarding and early help services.

The Role:

The Contact Worker Role involves working across the Multi Agency Referral Unit(MARU) and Early Help Hub (EHH). The post is varied and challenging, responding to telephone and electronic referrals, requests and enquiries for Children’s Social Care and Early Help Services. Social Care referrals and Early Help Requests are
received from, young people, families; carers; professionals and external agencies
where there is a need to safeguard or support children and families.

The roles require excellent skills in communication and building effective relationships with key partners. You will be flexible and be able to at times work under pressure and competing timescales. You will receive good support and supervision. This will be an exciting time to join the service as we further strengthen our partnership approach to working and ensuring that children and families receive a timely, effective and seamless response when they ask for help.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to a enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:

This is a full time post (37 hours) Monday-Friday located within New County Hall Truro

What you’ll need to succeed:

Excellent interpersonal & communication skills at all levels,including providing information via the telephone and personal interview techniques

Sound experience of maintaining good quality records and filing systems including the ability to write clear and concise English

Demonstrates awareness and understanding of issues around Safeguarding children and young people and Data Protection

4 GCSEs (A-C) including English or equivalent.

Extensive experience of customer focused roles.
