Job Description

The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Family Worker to join the Children’s Contact Program in providing supervised contact service that is impartial, trauma-informed, and child centered. Reporting to the Team Leader, your responsibilities include (but not be limited to):
• Conduct supervised visits and changeovers
• Transport children to and from visits, and this may include occasional interstate travel
• Write up observational reports of visits according to program guidelines
• Maintain confidentiality of all clients within the parameters of duty of care
• Attend and contribute to team meetings and professional development
• Ensure that administrative standards are maintained in accordance with the program and organisation’s policies.

About You
The ideal person we are looking for has:
• Minimum Certificate III in Community Services, Early Childhood or equivalent, or relevant experience
• Demonstrated commitment to working within a person and child safety framework that is client centered and trauma informed
• Excellent relationship building skills to maintain effective client relationships
• Proven experience and ability to respond appropriately to critical incidents and to clients presenting with complex needs
• Good verbal and written communication skills, and good time management skills
• Computer literacy skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and simple databases
• Willingness to use own vehicle for client transport.
• Availability to participate in a roster to work between Monday to Sunday, 7am - 7pm.

• A current National Police Check
• A current full driver’s licence

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
