
Consumer strategy and planning manager
Minimum Required Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Brand Management, Shopper Marketing, Commercial Marketing, Consumer Strategy or a related field.
Preferred Education
Master's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or equivalent.
Your Challenge:
The Consumer Strategy & Planning Manager is responsible for leading the development of regional consumer and shopper activation strategies across one or more categories in Western Europe. The role translates business and brand objectives into shopper marketing strategies which enable consistent execution across markets and channels. Working in tandem with colleagues in the MEP team, there is also collaboration with global marcom teams, zone shopper teams, agencies and more. The role drives alignment across the Consumer Experience Journey, ensuring activations are consistent with strategy and delivered efficiently.
Your role:
Works under limited supervision and broad guidelines, applying independent judgment to lead consumer strategy and activation planning across Western Europe.
Develops integrated consumer and shopper activation strategies aligned with Regional Marketing Activation Plans (RMAP), Marketing Integrated Planning (MIP) timelines and category priorities.
Leads briefing, planning and messaging development across consumer and shopper touchpoints (primary explore and convert stages) to ensure consistent activation throughout the Consumer Experience Journey.
Develops regional shopper marketing toolkits, activation guidance and best practices that enable effective local execution across channels and retailers.
Acts as the primary strategic partner for Zone Shopper Leads, providing guidance, support and ensuring consistency across markets.
Collaborates with MEP Marketing Managers, Content Lab, agencies and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable activation assets while driving efficiencies through automation and AI solutions.
Ensures consumer and shopper activations are aligned with brand positioning, business priorities and regional governance.
Drives continuous improvement of activation planning, frameworks and ways of working to increase effectiveness, efficiency and consistency across the region.
Builds organizational capability by sharing best practices, standards and activation frameworks across the Consumer Strategy & Planning community.
You're the right fit if:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
5–10 years of broad marketing experience, with a proven track record in developing and executing integrated marketing strategies and campaigns.
Prior experience in the relevant market is essential, with experience across the Europe region or broader zone strongly preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in Consumer Strategy, Shopper Marketing, Brand Management, Marketing Planning, and Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC).
Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and manage external creative, media, and marketing agencies.
Experience planning and executing omnichannel marketing activations, with familiarity with AI-powered marketing tools and marketing automation platforms to drive marketing effectiveness.
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
