During the period of this unpaid internship, you will work with the Medicaid Clinical Services team to ensure interaction between the company and members are optimized.
Consumer Service Operations Internship provides transitioning service members that are eligible to participate in the DoW SkillBridge Internship, or military spouses that are eligible to participate in the Military Spouse Career Accelerator Fellowship, with an opportunity to train and work with Humana.

The Consumer Service Operations Professional Intern will utilize Humana’s Medicaid training and previously acquired skillsets to support Medicaid member mail processing. Primary responsibilities include receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming and outgoing correspondence related to Medicaid member services. The intern will ensure accurate and timely processing of enrollment forms, eligibility documentation, claims-related communications, and other member correspondence. Additional duties may include tracking mail status, maintaining confidentiality of member information, and collaborating with other teams to resolve mail processing issues and ensure compliance with Medicaid program requirements.
Decisions are typically focus on methods, tactics and processes for completing administrative tasks/projects.
Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in prioritizing requests and interpreting and adapting procedures, processes and techniques, and works under limited guidance due to previous experience/breadth and depth of knowledge of administrative processes and organizational knowledge.
In this role you will be reviewing, and processing incoming member communications and routing appropriately.
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences and be a team player and have the ability to work independently.
Required Qualifications
Transitioning Service Member eligible to participate in SkillBridge or military spouse eligible to participate in the military spouse fellowship
Minimum 1 year of customer service experience, including typing/data entry
Professional healthcare experience or education in a healthcare discipline
Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word
Working knowledge of computers, or a demonstrated technical aptitude and an ability to quickly learn new systems with the ability to work with multiple screens and databases with paying attention to detail with data entry.
Preferred Qualifications
CGX, Excel, and QuickBase
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
Clerical support background in a healthcare environment
Familiarity with medical terminology
CNA or Medical Assistant background
Medicaid experience

Interview Format As part of our hiring process, we will be using an exciting interview with technology provided by Hire Vue, a third-party vendor. This technology provides our team of recruiters and hiring managers with an enhanced method for decision-making.
