Job Description

Basic Function:

Under general supervision, is responsible for all credit granting functions within the personal loans and mortgage area; interviews loan and mortgage applicants, assesses credit worthiness and underwrites loans within limits and/or recommends or declines loans based on loan risk. Promotes, up sells and cross sells the full range of personal consumer services with emphasis on consumer loans, mortgages, credit card products, lines of credit and sundry services to attain loan growth within established portfolio and within objectives determined in business planning process. Process loan applications, identifies and prepares related documents by inputting information into the computer system and registers securities as required. Maintains a systematic collection procedure and initiates and/or recommends appropriate action to ensure safety of funds and delinquency ratios.

Responsibilities:

Exhibit a high commitment to member relationships by promoting the concept of relationship marketing. Develop an affiliation with members by knowing individual member and his/her business relationship with the credit union. Identify and act on leads for consumer and mortgage loans and determines loan viability and risk and refer member to appropriate credit union resource person. Initiate action to advance funds or advance loans as required. Review loan file documentation, secure appropriate signatures and advance loan on completion of signing. Complete and submit reports for external programs and internal account and balance to house accounts on a monthly basis which may include: government reports for subsidy programs, municipal property tax reports, credit card reports and/or analysis of sundry Central reports and GL information. Actively participates in all branch campaigns and promotes loan growth within objectives determined in the business planning process. Maintain a high profile and image as the financial institution of choice in the branch trading area by establishing member and non-member relationships and business contracts.
