The Department

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a mental illness residing in the Inner Southeastern area of Melbourne.

Community Residential Rehabilitation Services

Prevention and Recovery Care (PARC) and Alma Road Community Care Unit (ARCC) form the community residential services for Adult and Older Adult program. PARC provides short term support for up to 28 days in a step up and step-down model for consumers living within the AMAH catchment area. The PARC service model is a partnership between AMAH and ERMHA 365.

ARCC provides a medium-term residential rehabilitation program for up to 14 people living on site with 24-hour support with an outreach transition program for up to 6 consumers.

The Role

In this role, you will provide intentional peer support to consumers through the purposeful use of lived/living experience of mental health challenges and recovery. You will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to promote hope, connection, self-determination, advocacy, and recovery-oriented practice.The role will work across ARCC and PARC and support the development and delivery of the group program.

This position may be appointed at either Grade 2 or Grade 3 depending on your demonstrated experience, capability, and level of autonomous peer practice.

About You

You will draw from your own lived experience of having a significant mental health challenge and the ability to use your experience to inspire hope and belief in recovery.

Essential

  • Identified lived/living experience of mental health challenges.
  • Demonstrated understanding of consumer peer work and recovery-oriented practice.
  • Australian working rights and current influenza vaccination
  • Current drivers licence
  • Be willing to complete a police check

For Grade 3 appointment:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a peer work role (typically 12 months or more).
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously within peer scope of practice.

Desirable

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
  • Intentional Peer Support Training
