WHO YOU ARE:
You drive governance excellence by building and maintaining strong frameworks that ensure compliance, reduce risk, and support consistent, transparent consumer lending operations. You are a strategic, detail-oriented leader who understands the complexities of consumer lending regulations and brings a proactive, solutions-focused approach to risk management, audit readiness, and operational integrity. You partner across teams to influence outcomes, lead through collaboration, and translate regulatory requirements and risk insights into practical, actionable guidance that strengthens performance and builds trust at all levels of the organization.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Develop and implement governance frameworks, policies, and procedures specific to consumer loan operations.
• Monitor and evaluate adherence to Consumer Lending policies, procedures, and controls, as well as applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., TILA, ECOA, Fair Lending, CFPB, NCUA, FDIC, OCC, etc.), and recommend corrective actions to reduce operational, compliance, and reputational risk.
• Facilitate governance committees and working groups, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-up on decisions and action items.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Enterprise Risk, Internal Audit, and operations teams to ensure governance alignment across the lending lifecycle.
• Lead and manage governance-related projects, including policy rollouts, system enhancements, and audit readiness initiatives.
• Manage and maintain the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) database, ensuring timely updates, accuracy, and alignment with enterprise risk frameworks.
• Conduct periodic evaluation of governance practices, operational processes, and control effectiveness; analyze trends and root causes; and provide process improvement and control recommendations to strengthen the control environment and reduce risk across Consumer Lending.
• Provide training and guidance to business units on governance standards and regulatory expectations.
• Develop, maintain, and update procedures, job aids, and related governance content (e.g., playbooks, checklists, communications, and training materials) to promote consistent execution and ensure ongoing adherence to applicable Consumer Lending regulatory requirements.
• Support Quality Assurance (QA) monitoring and evaluation activities by partnering with the Service Ops QA team to review findings, assess control impacts, validate remediation plans, and identify process improvement opportunities within Consumer Lending.
• Support Consumer Lending audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory examinations by coordinating documentation and evidence requests, managing issue tracking and remediation, ensuring timely responses, and partnering with second line and third line teams on escalation protocols and control testing.
• Prepare and deliver governance, risk, QA, audit, compliance, and exam-readiness reporting (e.g., dashboards, metrics, status updates, and emerging risk themes) for senior leadership and applicable stakeholders.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.
• Assist with additional projects and perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICIATIONS AND PREFERENCES:
• Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience. required
• 5+ years in a consumer lending operations environment, governance, compliance, risk management, credit policy, or a related field required
