Job Description

The Consumer & Community Banking Capital Markets – Portfolio team manages approximately $500B of balance sheet assets across Residential, Auto, and Commercial Real Estate. The platform spans the full loan lifecycle, including product development, originations, hedging, asset-liability management, servicing strategy, and exit execution through loan sales and securitization. The team has built a leading securitization and risk transfer platform across flagship shelves such as CHASE, CHAOT, and CACLN, with over $70B of loan trading activity and a top-tier presence in the market.

As a Mortgage Loan Trader – Vice President in Consumer & Community Banking Capital Markets, you will be primarily focused on Commercial Real Estate, while also playing an active role in residential mortgage trading and securitization, including direct involvement in structuring transactions and developing execution strategies. You will combine credit underwriting, structuring, and market execution, with a strong emphasis on relative value, balance sheet optimization, and idea generation.

This is a newly created role intended to both support the continued growth of the residential securitization platform and help build out CRE trading and portfolio capabilities.

Job responsibilities

  • Evaluate and execute CRE and residential mortgage loan trading opportunities, including whole loans, participations, and structured portfolios
  • Identify relative value opportunities and translate analysis into actionable trade ideas and investment recommendations
  • Develop and articulate relative value views to Sales and investors to support distribution, marketing, and execution outcomes
  • Partner with Sales and correspondent/origination channels to source loan volume and drive market engagement
  • Provide input into and help guide loan pricing and rate sheet strategy for origination, informed by market execution levels and securitization outcomes
  • Support structuring and execution of securitizations and capital markets transactions across CRE and residential mortgage platforms
  • Analyze collateral, cash flows, and structural features to optimize pricing, execution, and capital efficiency
  • Develop and implement hedging strategies for loan pipelines and inventory using appropriate market instruments
  • Manage portfolio positioning across credit, liquidity, and interest rate risks in coordination with ALM and Risk
  • Present desk performance, portfolio strategy, and new business initiatives to senior leadership
  • Contribute to development of new products, structures, and platform capabilities, particularly in CRE trading and residential securitization


Required qualifications, skills and capabilities

  • 5+ years of experience in Commercial Real Estate and/or Residential Mortgage finance, trading, or structured products
  • Commercial Real Estate capital markets or trading experience, with familiarity across residential mortgage markets
  • Structuring experience across CRE and/or Residential mortgage transactions including securitization or complex loan executions
  • Deep understanding of CRE and/or Residential mortgage credit, capital structures, and market dynamics
  • Proven ability to perform relative value analysis and translate insights into trade ideas and investor narratives; Strong communication skills with the ability to present analytics, strategy, and business ideas to Sales, investors, and senior leadership
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including cash flow analysis, scenario testing, and bond math; familiarity with loan pricing, rate sheet development, and hedging strategies for loan pipelines (e.g., TBAs, derivatives, or other instruments)
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to originate ideas, source opportunities, and drive execution, while developing and articulating relative value views to Sales and investors to support distribution and execution
