  • Represent GE in engagements with external stakeholders such as clients, third-party suppliers, and professional bodies (IEC, CIGRE, etc.).
  • Collaborate with GE Vernova stakeholders across the HVDC business unit and the wider GE Vernova organization.
  • Develop innovative ideas and contribute to international scientific publications and patents.
  • Lead major and complex assignments with significant long-term business impact within the area of expertise.
  • Coordinate with other GE Vernova HVDC designers to optimize transformer solutions for overall HVDC system performance.
  • Manage the governance process for design specification approvals, ensuring rigorous standards are maintained.
  • Establish and enforce comprehensive design, manufacturing, and testing gates with suppliers to ensure oversight and successful delivery and commercial operation of transformers.
  • Lead technical discussions with suppliers to achieve optimized and cost-effective transformer designs for all reference solutions.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of international (IEC, IEEE) and local standards applicable to power transformers.

Additional Responsibilities

Quality:

  • Participate in the development and deployment of engineering processes, working methods, and best practices.
  • Enforce engineering discipline by ensuring adherence to company policies, quality procedures, and work instructions through training and technical reviews.
  • Report or resolve any non-conformances promptly to maintain high standards.

  • Develop and industrialize tools, solutions, and processes related to engineering activities to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Health and Safety (EHS):

  • Identify and assess EHS risks proactively.
  • Lead by example by demonstrating proper safety practices, actively observing work conditions and behaviors, providing constructive feedback, and recognizing effective prevention.
  • Participate in defining corrective actions when unsafe conditions or uncontrolled risks are identified.
  • Routinely monitor workplace behaviors and provide immediate feedback on unsafe actions while celebrating safe practices.
  • Promote a culture of hazard identification and near-miss reporting within the team.

Must-have requirements:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Transformer Design or related fields, with a demonstrated record of technical publications and contributions to the industry.
  • Extensive experience in the design and development of HVDC Converter and Interface Transformers, with a proven ability to lead complex technical programs, typically gained over 15 to 20 years.
  • Deep expertise in transformer specification, validation, testing, insulation coordination, and integration into HVDC and transmission systems.
  • Solid understanding of system-level aspects, including civil interfaces, transport and handling, site installation, and operational performance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international standards (IEC, IEEE) and the ability to apply them effectively in engineering practice.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and industry bodies.
  • Sound engineering judgment and high ethical standards, with a consistent approach to informed and responsible decision-making.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional, multicultural engineering environments, with a focus on collaboration, innovation, and results.
