Job Description

Our leading healthcare facility is looking for an experienced Consultant Visceral Surgeon to provide advanced surgical care for patients with complex abdominal and gastrointestinal conditions. The ideal candidate should have extensive expertise in visceral, gastrointestinal, and laparoscopic surgery, with strong experience managing complex surgical cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and surgically manage complex abdominal and gastrointestinal conditions.
• Perform elective and emergency visceral surgical procedures.
• Manage conditions involving the stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and biliary system.
• Perform advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical procedures.
• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments and develop individualized surgical plans.
• Perform complex abdominal and gastrointestinal surgeries within the scope of expertise.
• Provide comprehensive post-operative and perioperative care.
• Manage surgical emergencies including bowel obstruction, perforation, acute abdomen, gastrointestinal bleeding, and abdominal sepsis.
• Review and interpret CT, MRI, ultrasound, endoscopy, pathology, and other diagnostic investigations.
• Collaborate with gastroenterologists, oncologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and other specialists.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and complex case discussions where appropriate.
• Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, surgical options, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, teaching, research, and continuing medical education.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in General Surgery / Visceral Surgery / Gastrointestinal Surgery, such as MS, MCh, DNB, FRCS, Arab Board, or equivalent.
• Significant post-specialization experience with Consultant-level surgical experience.
• Strong experience in visceral, gastrointestinal, and laparoscopic surgery.
• Excellent surgical judgment, technical skills, and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
• Surgical logbook may be required for licensing review of surgical specialties.
