Consultant / Solution Consultant – AVEVA Asset Information Management (AIM) & Integrated Solutions

Department: Software Service and Delivery

Location: Brisbane / Perth, Australia

Reports to: Service Director - Pacific

Role Overview

The Consultant / Solution Consultant is responsible for designing, configuring, and delivering AVEVA Asset Information Management (AIM) solutions for industrial customers. The role combines hands-on AIM product expertise with solution consulting and system integration capabilities to deliver practical information management and digital transformation solutions.

Working closely with customers, project teams, and solution architects, the consultant will participate in requirements gathering, solution design, system configuration, integration development, testing, and deployment. The role may also involve working with other AVEVA solutions such as AVEVA PI System, AVEVA APM, AVEVA Unified Engineering, and AVEVA CONNECT, as well as third-party enterprise applications including SAP, Maximo, SharePoint, OpenText, and cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Solution Design & Implementation

• Participate in requirements workshops, business process reviews, and solution design sessions.
• Configure and implement AVEVA AIM solutions based on customer requirements and best practices.
• Support information model design, metadata configuration, document management structures, and security setup.
• Assist with system testing, deployment, and user acceptance activities.

1. System Integration & Data Management

• Develop and support integrations between AIM and other systems, including AVEVA PI System, SAP, Maximo, SharePoint, OpenText, historians, and cloud platforms.
• Configure data migration, synchronization, and validation processes.
• Support API integrations, data mapping, and interface troubleshooting.
• Assist in maintaining data quality and information governance standards.

1. Customer Consulting & Solution Delivery

• Work directly with customers to understand business requirements and translate them into functional solutions.
• Prepare solution documentation, configuration specifications, and implementation plans.
• Conduct user training sessions, workshops, and knowledge transfer activities.
• Provide guidance on best practices for asset information management and document control processes.

1. Pre-Sales Support

• Support demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and technical workshops.
• Contribute to solution proposals, effort estimates, and project planning activities.
• Assist sales and account teams in identifying customer requirements and solution options.

1. Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement

• Support project delivery activities while meeting quality, schedule, and customer expectations.
• Troubleshoot application, integration, and data-related issues.
• Contribute to reusable templates, accelerators, and implementation best practices.
• Collaborate effectively with local and global delivery teams.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise software implementation, solution consulting, system integration, or information management.
• Hands-on experience with AVEVA Asset Information Management (AIM), engineering information management, or similar enterprise information management platforms.
• Experience delivering software implementation or integration projects.
• Exposure to industrial sectors such as mining, energy, utilities, oil & gas, chemicals, or manufacturing is desirable.
• Experience participating in customer workshops, solution presentations, or pre-sales activities is advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Working knowledge of AVEVA AIM configuration, information models, metadata management, and security concepts.
• Experience with system integration technologies, including REST APIs, XML, JSON, and web services.
• Development or scripting experience using C#, .NET, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of SQL Server, database design, reporting, and data analysis.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS is desirable.
• Understanding of engineering and asset information, including tags, documents, drawings, and equipment hierarchies, is advantageous.

Consulting & Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Self-motivated with strong customer-focus and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within Australia and the APAC region as required.

Preferred Profile

The ideal candidate is a technically capable consultant with practical implementation experience who can independently deliver AIM solutions while collaborating with senior architects and project managers on larger engagements. They should be comfortable working directly with customers, solving integration challenges, and contributing to successful project outcomes without requiring the deep enterprise architecture expertise expected of a senior architect.
