🩺 Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Radiation Oncologist to join a leading tertiary healthcare institution in the UAE. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive radiation oncology services for patients with cancer, utilizing advanced radiotherapy techniques to deliver safe, precise, and evidence-based treatment. The consultant will work collaboratively with medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, oncology nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients requiring radiation therapy for malignant and selected benign conditions.
  • Develop individualized radiation treatment plans based on evidence-based clinical guidelines.
  • Perform patient consultations, simulation, target volume delineation, treatment planning review, and radiation prescription.
  • Deliver advanced radiotherapy using techniques such as Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), and brachytherapy.
  • Collaborate with medical oncologists, surgeons, and other specialists to formulate multidisciplinary cancer treatment plans.
  • Monitor patients throughout treatment and manage acute and long-term radiation-related toxicities.
  • Provide follow-up care, survivorship planning, and monitoring for disease recurrence and treatment complications.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, expected outcomes, risks, and supportive care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, oncology conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety regulations, quality assurance standards, and international best practices.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and treatment records in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Supervise junior physicians, residents, fellows, radiation therapists, and allied healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in clinical research, teaching, and Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirement

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by the relevant UAE health authority.
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Radiation Oncology.
  • Board Certification or equivalent specialist qualification in Radiation Oncology recognized under the UAE Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR).
  • Eligibility for or possession of a DHA, DOH, or MOHAP Consultant License.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of post-board/fellowship experience as a Consultant Radiation Oncologist (or as required by UAE licensing regulations).
  • Extensive experience in external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy, and advanced treatment planning.
  • Experience managing a broad spectrum of solid tumors and hematological malignancies requiring radiotherapy.
  • Experience working in internationally accredited cancer centers or tertiary hospitals is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated expertise in multidisciplinary oncology care.

Skills & Competencies

  • Expertise in modern radiation oncology techniques and technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of cancer biology, radiation physics, and evidence-based treatment protocols.
  • Proficiency in radiation treatment planning systems and image-guided radiotherapy technologies.
  • Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and patient counseling abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary oncology teams.
  • Commitment to patient safety, radiation safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
  • Leadership, mentoring, and teaching capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fellowship from a recognized international Radiation Oncology program.
  • Western Board Certification or equivalent internationally recognized qualification (preferred).
  • Experience in stereotactic radiotherapy, brachytherapy, proton therapy, or adaptive radiotherapy.
  • Active involvement in clinical research, publications, and medical education.
