Priory Hospital Bristol has an opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team on our brand-new Mixed Acute Ward. This is a part-time role working 30 hours per week the actual salary for this role is £140,800 per annum.

Priory Hospital Bristol, Stapleton, Bristol is a specialist mental health and addiction treatment service for individuals, families and couples. It provides fast access to treatment for a range of psychiatric conditions and addictions. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes serving Stapleton and Bristol Parkway railway station approximately 2–3 miles from the hospital.

What you'll be doing

Join Priory Hospital Bristol as a Consultant Psychiatrist on our brand-new Mixed Acute Ward, providing specialist inpatient care for adults experiencing acute mental health difficulties. You’ll provide high-quality, recovery-focused clinical care while working closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, person-centred treatment.

Key responsibilities:
  • Take clinical responsibility for patients, including ward rounds, risk reviews and care planning.
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act.
  • Support referrals, admissions and pre-admission assessments.
  • Provide psychiatric expertise to the multidisciplinary team across assessment, formulation and treatment.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, service development and strategic planning.
  • Support training and supervision of multidisciplinary colleagues, including junior medical staff.
  • Maintain CPD and revalidation requirements.
  • Participate in the on-call rota, including cover at satellite sites where reasonably required.

What you'll bring to the role

Essential for the role
Applicants must hold MRCPsych (or an equivalent qualification), a CCT (or equivalent) and be included on the GMC Specialist Register, along with Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status. They must demonstrate clinical knowledge, skills, and experience relevant to the speciality, the ability to work within and lead a team, and a commitment to shared leadership, collaborative working, and service improvement. Candidates should also have evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
