Location: Lara precinct prisons, based at Western Plains Correctional Centre, Lara, VIC
Work Type: Sessional up to full time
Work Hours: Monday to Friday – working pattern to be confirmed – No weekend work

Help Shape a New Era in Forensic Mental Health
The Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health (Forensicare) is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist for a sessional role at the “Lara precinct” prisons, including the newly opened Western Plains Correctional Centre, Barwon, Kareenga, and Marngoneet prisons. This role offers a unique opportunity to deliver high-impact clinical care in a secure, purpose-built facility as part of a respected statewide forensic mental health service.

About the Role at Western Plains (Lara)
Join a committed multidisciplinary team in a modern facility with access to the latest infrastructure and models of care. This is a pivotal role in delivering psychiatric services to individuals within the justice system. The role will include conducting psychiatric outpatient clinics, leading a multidisciplinary team, involvement in clinical reviews, and supervision of other clinicians.

About You:
• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), or equivalent.
• Experience in forensic psychiatry is desirable but not essential – training and support provided.
• Strong interest in multidisciplinary, person-centred care.
• Willingness to work onsite at a secure correctional facility.
