We're offering an exciting permanent Consultant Psychiatrist role within Jersey's Community Mental Health Services with the flexibility to tailor your job plan to your interests. These roles can be combined with Liaison Psychiatry or Criminal Justice Psychiatry, giving you variety, autonomy, and the chance to make a real impact across different areas of care. We also have a second post for a dual role in In-patient and Home Treatment Team.

The successful applicant will be expected to provide medical expertise in the field of Adult CMHT Psychiatry. The key responsibilities and expectations are:
Liaising with other medical specialties and primary care colleagues as required.
Recognised basic medical degree
Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
To have obtained CCT and be on specialist register
To Have obtained CESR and be on specialist register or,
Within 6 months of obtaining CCT with recommendation of programme director
Eligibility for Section 12 approval
Experience of assessing and treating adult patients in community psychiatric settings
Experience managing clozapine and depot prescriptions.
Experience of work in UK hospital systems (or equivalent, not just shadowing)
Knowledge and evidence of participation in CPD
A sound understanding of clinical governance
MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD. PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
Section 12 approval
Experience in inpatient psychiatry
On call experience covering adults and older people
ADHD/ ASD assessment experience
Experience using Mental Health Law in community settings.
Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
Evidence of specific achievements that demonstrate leadership skills
Understanding of the management skills required to function successfully as a consultant
Ability to use IT, including email and the internet
Knowledge of risk management
Knowledge of the management and structure of mental health services and the wider health economy
Knowledge of recent developments and drug advances in psychiatry and allied disciplines
Commitment to and experience of undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching
Understand principles of teaching
Evidence of leadership attributes
Commitment to service development
Ability to deal effectively with pressure
Thoroughness and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to community effectively with service users, carers and all grades of staff

Current UK driver’s license or equivalent
Able to fulfil all duties of post, including on-call
Satisfactory clearances from enhanced DBS disclosure and health checks
Direct Clinical Care 7.5 - 8PA's (including TOIL session)
Supporting Professional Activity 2 - 2.5 PA's (depending on management responsibilities
Out of hours requirement 1 PA (included in DCC above)
More detailed job planning will take place after appointment
It is recognised that the consultants may also develop a private practice and with the agreement of the hospital management this is often undertaken in the TOIL session.
